FAQs

  • All of our candles are made using all-natural wax and contain no ultraviolet stabilizers. If a candle is in direct sunlight or under florescent lights for prolonged periods of time, it can turn yellow or have the natural color of the wax fade. This does not affect the candle or scent in any way.

Natural ingredients can always impact the eventual color of your candle. Because fragrance oils often include ingredients like vanillin, cinnamon, or citrus oil, you might find your candle discoloring over time. This does not affect the candle or the scent. It is just a common variable when using natural ingredients.

  • Candle burn times vary based on several factors, including the amount of wax, the type of container, number of wicks, and how long the candle is burned for each session. We always try to emphasize the importance of burning a candle long enough, on the first burn, so the wax pool melts across the entire surface of the container. Wax has memory, and the first burn tends to set the radius of the melt. The newly melted wax is softer and does not require as much heat to melt it again into a liquid.

  • Yes, the cigar boxes are safe. We have tested many and haven’t had any problems. Each box is sealed and tested for leaks before use so there should not be any issues. You just have to make sure to use the same precaution as any other candle. Don’t let it unattended or in drafty areas. The wick tabs we use lifts the wick off the bottom of the container. If it happens to get down that low, the wax should extinguish the wick before it ever hits the bottom. We would recommend blowing the wicks out after each use instead of closing the lid on the box. The flame will not come in contact with the sides of the box as long as those precautions are taken. The flame will be hotter than the melted wax and the wax is not hot enough to cause any problems with the wooden sides.

  • Tunneling can occur in any candle, regardless of size, type, or container. It occurs when only a small portion of the wax around the wick melts, leaving hard wax around the outside. As the flame burns down the middle, it will eventually become more difficult to light as there will not be enough oxygen to sustain itself and can be drowned out by the melting wax.

Don’t worry! There are ways to solve this. We always try to emphasize the importance of burning a candle long enough, on the first burn, so the wax pool melts across the entire surface of the container. Depending on the size of the candle, this burn time will vary. Why is this important? Wax has memory, and the first burn tends to set the radius of the melt. The newly melted wax is softer and does not require as much heat to melt it again into a liquid. If the first burn does not melt across the entire surface, the next burn will burn the softer wax and take more energy to melt the harder wax on the outside, thus creating tunneling.

So, how can we fix it? We recommend two ways! The first is using a hair dryer or heat gun. You will want to trim the wick and remove any debris inside the tunnel. Take the heat gun or hair dryer and heat the wax on the surface of the candle. You can carefully poke at the unmelted wax on the sides with a toothpick to help it melt faster. Continue heating the entire surface until it is completely melted and smoothed over. Then on the next light, keep it lit until the entire surface is melted.

The second option is using aluminum foil to create a tent over the candle. Trim the wick and remove any debris from the tunnel. Cover the top of the candle with aluminum foil making a domed lid. Cut a small opening (around an inch) above each of the wicks to create the tent. The hole is where the smoke will release. The foil will reflect heat back on to the wax and hopefully melt the edges. Keep the foil on until the wax has been melted and smoothed over. The foil will get hot so please be careful when removing it.

  • Typical processing time is 3-5 business days, but often orders are shipped earlier than that. If, for some reason, it would take longer, we will be sure to make you aware.

  • If your candle is damaged upon delivery, simply email us within 48 hours of receiving and provide a photo reference of the damaged product and we will work with you on getting a new candle.
